William Baker Wood and Soda Fired Pottery

Busy Few Weeks

A few snapshots from the recent firing I shared with Joy. A number of nice pots came out, a few new forms I tried out and lots of Joy’s vases too. She needed a few extra vases for an important event so we hustled down to Bakersville to fire the little converted electric soda kiln. I can report that the baby soda kiln fired in record time and produced a great little batch of pots.

I’ll get some more photos of the best from this wood firing up soon, but for now got to get them sanded and cleaned and priced and packed. I’ll be out in the Smokies for a pottery festival June 5th and 6th and then back for the Toe River Studio Tour.

This Weekend

A brief interruption from the studio where I’ve been trying to get situated for the upcoming firing.  This weekend it’s off to another event, but this is no mere ‘craft fair’.  This is an International Arts Festival for this humble wood fired potter.  I’m speaking of course about Artisphere in Greenville, SC taking place this weekend May 8th-10th.  There is a huge list of activities, music, vendors, and on and on so click on the link above for all of the details.  And come by and say hello if you’re wandering the streets in town.
