Wood and Soda Fired Pottery

All of my pieces begin on the wheel, which was what first lured me into the clay studio.  Over the years, my style has evolved from one which portrayed a straight forward wheel thrown aesthetic to one which often employs altering and refining of the wheel thrown forms to sharpen edges and refine lines.  Currently, I use stoneware clays, some of these pieces are done once they leave the wheel, others are altered using different techniques such as squaring and paddling.  Some pieces are dipped in a flashing slip while others might remain bare clay.  The final step is a wood firing in our train kiln for 48 hours. I also enjoy gas firing my pots in our soda kiln for some of my work.
